ONE AUTHOR TWO MASTERPIECES Orwell was a British journalist and writer. He wrote two of the most famous novels of the 20th century: "Animal Farm" and "1984" . Orwell's real name was Eric Arthur-Blair ; he was born on June 25, 1903 in East India and was the son of a British colonial officer. He was educated in the UK but joined the Indian Empire Police in Myanmar, which was then a British colony. After resigning in 1927, he decided to become a writer. In 1928, he moved to Paris. He described his experience in his first book, "The Decline and Advance of Paris and London" published in 1933. Shortly before publication, he was called George Orwell. In 1934, his first novel "Days in Myanmar" followed. In the late 1930s, anarchists began to consider themselves socialists.
